As a Senior SQL Server DBA you will be working closely with the Software Installation Group at Synygy and with the SQL Server developers within Synygy’s software development group.
The primary focus of your responsibilities will be to ensure that Synygy’s SQL Server database environments are running in an optimal state and to develop and implement standards and procedures for Synygy’s database systems. You will be required to set regular audits/reviews for each project and be proactive in recommendations for improvements for production environments.
Development of online reports/trending analysis pertaining to the health of each project would be required. Working primarily with the Installations Manager, this person will work within the Systems group and collaborate closely with the Database Group within the Software Organization.
Responsibilities
Ensure the integrity and security of production-level SQL servers running in the Synygy Data Center
Set build standards, maintain and support Microsoft SQL 2000, 2005 and 2008 database servers running on a Windows 2000, 2003 or 2008 platform
Help provide strategic database direction for the organization
Establish standards for implementing and maintaining database security
Perform database tuning, performance monitoring and trending analysis
Establish and review server performance optimization plans
Perform application tuning and performance monitoring
Plan for growth and associated environment changes (capacity planning)
Perform scheduled database and server maintenance tasks and audits
Benchmark hardware requirements for Windows 2003 and 2008 database servers
Create and maintain detailed procedure documentation and configuration drawings
Perform general technical troubleshooting and give consultation to internal and external client project teams
Provide production support as required
CANDIDATUL IDEAL:
Specific qualifications include:
Minimum 3 years of professional experience in SQL Server DBA position
Ability to perform both SQL Server and Windows performance tuning and monitoring
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent problem solving abilities and attention to detail
Experience writing technical documents
Practical experience using SAN’s, VMware
Experience with MS Data Base clustering would be a plus
Good OS (Windows 2003/2008) and networking skills preferred
Experience supporting SQL as part of a three-tiered applications environment preferred
Experience developing SQL monitoring and maintenance scripts preferred
Degree in Computer Science (or other technical field) with MCDBA (MS SQL 2005 and/or 2008) preferred
